MPD Housing Programs

We know it can be difficult transitioning to a new career and we want to make things easier for you. Here are two programs we are offering to help make your transition to MPD a little easier.

Short-Term (Hotel):

If you live more than 50 air miles from the Metropolitan Police Academy (4665 Blue Plains Dr. SW), we will provide you with a hotel room for up to 14 days at no cost to you.

Long-Term (Rental):

We want our police officers to live in the city. We are offering up to $6,000 to help offset the costs associated with renting. Please note that there is no mile requirement for the long-term rental program.

All new hires and recruit officers with less than 3 months of employment with MPD are eligible for up to $6,000 rental housing assistance for rentals in Washington, DC.
If you accept short-term assistance, that will be deducted from the $6,000 (average rate is $200 a night for a total of $2800).
